BEGIN TO HOPE - "anti-folk". Regina Spektor taking a little step away from piano balladry into the brave new world of the pop music. And what pop songs they are. Regina's voice takes the foreground over sparse arrangements of guitars, some electronic beats, and of course, piano. Her singing, if it is possible, is even better than it was on SOVIET KITSCH her older album: intimate, playful, and full of jazzy phrasings. She slips effortlessly into falsetto and scat in a manner reminiscent of Joni Mitchell. "Hotel Song" finds Regina singing whispery and smooth over humming organs and a muted snare drum. In "On The Radio," she sings about hearing G'N'R's "November Rain" while plucked strings and synth arpeggios go noodling on behind her. This is an album full of surprises, not the least of which is how charming the effect is overall.

FlyKKiller (also written as Flykkiller) is an electronic rock band, consisting of Stephen Hilton and Polish vocalist Pati Yang. Hilton was a member of the Free Association with Irish electronic musician David Holmes. The band's sound has elements of pop, Trip hop, techno and electro with occasional dark, gothic overtones. Their debut album Experiments in Violent Light was released on October 1, 2007 on FLYKKLLR RCRDS.

This is a band that we all actually really miss. We hadn't known of them for long, and then....well, they just vanished.

White gold way is a gem of a song, one of those songs that makes you sad to think not many people will hear it, when everyone should at least once.

To be quite honest, it's been such a long time since we've listened to this album but my stand out tracks were "Fabricated Lunacy", "Cannibal Kids", "Petrol Hours", "Vegetable days" and of course "White Gold Way."

Excellent CD, one that deserves attention . Thumbs up for this one.

Sure, it's catchy, but if you're looking for any sort of depth or anything more than a guilty pleasure, you're not going to get it here.
