Started by Finnish vocalist and kantele player Sanna Kurki-Suonio (of Hedningarna fame), Loituma combines Finnish vocals with the kantele (traditional Finnish plucked string instrument) to create a unique and ethereal sound. A recent contribution to the Internet culture is a looped flash animation showing BLEACH character Inoue Orihime swinging a leek with a high-pitched version of Loituma's accapella song Ieva's Polka (Ievan Polkka) from 1998 in the background.

Ah, the beautiful things of this world that one is exposed to while listening to public radio! Watch these couple videos set to trans Finish folk music. I like the music in this first video better, but the second video is more fun to watch.
